Why do people trust Republicans on the economy?

Is it their hard focus on the power of the market? Is it their favouring of big business? For whatever reason, Republicans and conservatives in general seem to get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to economics. To wit, the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey yesterday. I understand that incumbents are going to have a hard time in this economic climate (and that is one of the main reasons Clinton and Obama won was because of the terrible jobs the Bushes did on the economy), but if one’s inclined to vote based on the economic conditions, you’re better off voting for the Democrat.

This is an old article, but it’s worth revisiting. Democrats are simply better for the economy than Republicans.
